If too many people are downloading from a website, the website would refuse your connection. If there are a lot of people the download speed will be slow but it should transfer without errors. If you are getting a lot of errors you need to check the error rate of your connection. This can be done by interogating your Cable or DSL Modem. Since you don't say what you are using, I can't really help you. Talk to your Internet Service Provider and tell them you are having connection problems. They will be able to diagnose the problem either from their end or tell you what to look at at your end.
