why do blank dvds only read 1.5 gb on mac?
well for starters i'm trying to burn a copy of windows back to a dvd.
most would say thats illegal but its my copy. its a habit of backing up all of my discs (e.g. mac os x tiger install, ms office 2007 and 2008 , assorted games win 2000, xp, vista, 7, ubuntu, etc.)
but i digress....
my mac for some reason reads blank dvds at only 1.5GB buts on the dvd it says 4.7gb.
does anyone know why or does anyone know where i can get a disc image burner for mac os x 10.4.11 PPC.
my mac specs
eMac usb 2.0
1.25 GHz PPC G4 processor
1GB DDR Ram
40Gb PATA HDD
32MB ati radeon 9200 AGP
Combo drive reads and writes "cd -r-rw/dvd -r -rw" reads only "Dvd Dl"

your dvd player could be bad. If you try to burn something else on a dvd does it come up with 4.7 gig open? Maybe the dvd itself is bad try another one.
